DESPECHADO PINOT NOIR CHILE - 2019 750 ml

It was hard to find, but this wine is extraordinary. For those of us who come from down under, Shiraz/Syrah is an absolute must on the dinner table. For us, it’s not just that a wine “isn’t bad” or is “nice” - it has to be great. Montes Folly Syrah is certified by us as “Fantastic.” This is a limited series, so all bottles have an individual serial number.

“Montes Folly is an adventurous wine of exceptional quality.” claims Montes Vineyard, and we happen to agree with them 100%. The first time we tried it we said, “WOW.” A Syrah wine, from vineyards located in La Finca de Apalta in Colchagua Valley, Chile. The grapes are hand cut and rigorously selected. Montes Folly is recognized as the best Syrah in Chile. James Suckling gives it 96 points, we say it is delicious!

It is no coincidence that we like wines from boutique vineyards. As nothing is mass produced and the grapes are selected by hand, with love and attention to detail, we are continuously delighted with spectacular wines.

El Enemigo is a boutique vineyard producing award-winning wines. The grapes are sourced from the Gualtallary and Tupungato vineyards, grown in limestone soils at high altitude – ideal for making a wine of elegance.

OK, so I liked the picture on the bottle of this one as well, which is why I wanted to try this wine. We have been "trying" it ever since. The grapes are harvested manually and then hand selected for fermentation. This reminds me of New Zealand with its many boutique vineyards. “It is an intense red with a purple hue. Aroma: It has ripe berries aromas reminiscent of raspberry and cranberry, as well as notes of Moka and black tea. Taste: It has great intensity, with black fruit and bitter chocolate flavors.” Don’t you just love the way this wine is described? That was courtesy of Corking Wines in the UK.

OK, so here’s another bottle with a label I liked, which is why I wanted to try this wine. We have been "trying" it ever since. With notes of plum and spices, this is a down-to-earth wine with a medium to full body that we love.
